SEO Tips

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website in search engines search results like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.
It may take months for your website to begin to appear on page one but if you utilize some of the tools below you can start seeing results in the weeks ahead.

1. KeyWords - Keywords are what we type in when we are searching for products, services, and answers on the search engines.
You will need to determine at least 3-4 noncompetitive key word phrases in order to move your site to page one of Google.
Avoid one word keywords and competitive two word keywords:

For example: If you are creating a website that sells dog food then your keywords should not be "dog", "food", or even "dog food" if you want to be page one. You will be better served to use keywords such as "puppy dog food", "health dog food", "cheep dog food".
Search the Internet for a free keyword tool if you have problems identifying your keywords.
2. Once you have identified your keywords make sure that you place them in your website TITLE under Metatags.
Using the example above my website title may look like this:
Puppy dog food | Health dog food | Cheep dog food
The primary keyword should appear first within your website title.
You can also place additional keywords within titles on different pages of your site by going to "Web Pages" >> select your page >> click "Page Options" >> Metatags. It is a good practice to have separate titles on each page. You can place a differ net keyword at the beginning of each page title to strengthen your Page Rank for each page of your site.
3. Place your primary keyword for each page 3-4 times within the content of the page. Placing the keyword as a
Header1
at the top of the page helps; also setting the keyword as bold text may help.
4. Insert your website description under Metatags. Your description should be no more than a 200 word paragraph. Try to place your primary keyword within the paragraph.
5. Create a Google Sitemap so that Google can discover all your pages.
6. Use Google Analytics to measure site traffic.
